I was born in a family of musicians. And that decided my fate to which I didn’t resist much. First, piano came into my life in addition to my father’s guitar, of course. That shortened my play activity for a few hours. Instead I rinsed my scales and arpeggios that I hated..
I can not say that I did not like music. On the contrary, I played guitar in a school band, imitating the Western and some Soviet bands. But I was not really inspired by the methods of achieving the heights of pianistic that my teachers, including my dad, imposed on me. (Although later, when I attended the Music College by the Moscow Conservatory, I was infinitely grateful to these “tormentors” as without those tedious scales and arpeggios, without the boring etudes, without what is called a base, I would not have become a musician.
As time went on, my etudes became more difficult, my scales acquired more accidentals (sharps and flats), time for my personal teenage life with all its delights and frustrations incessantly diminished. And I had to confront a few questions – “What to do?” Who to become? “,”Shall I be like everyone else? “… And this last predicament -” Like everyone else “worked as a lethal injection to my pride. The choice was made, and my vector finally turned toward the bright light of Art.

… But time was short. There was no longer a question of becoming a decent pianist and enroll in the best music school; the train was gone, leaving the last car behind. So, after consulting with proper specialists my father, with his usual “know-how skill”, prompted me towards the bassoon – an instrument that was rare but promising, and at a certain level not difficult to learn. As I found out later, many bassoonist started as pianists: after all, the same ten fingers are used in both instruments.

As the goal was set, I moved on. A year later I was playing Vivaldi concerto. Тwo years later I got enrolled in the Musical College that brought me to the Moscow Conservatory named after Tschajkovsky, then to the State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Evgeny Svetlanov, furthermore to Moscow Brass Octet. I became involved in festivals in the town of Evian, played music together with Mstislav Rostropovich, and learned a lot of different and surprising things, without I can’t imagine my life anymore.
In 1994, I received an offer to work at the Conservatory named after Carlos Gomez by Universidade Federal do Parana. So I moved to Brazil.
