Movie Director

In my childhood I was such an avid reader that real life appeared artificial to me.

People around me were talking of something completely unattainable, and since I understood neither their reasoning nor a sense of they put into it, I demystified what I heard in a peculiar way, that is, according to the rules and stipulations that I acquired while reading books: fairy tales and novels.

As I lived many years in such a fog, I came to some realization of real life when it was too late: fibs and reality intertwined in my mind and determined my direction. They also formed my professional orientation.

For a long time I studied art and learned how to paint and then I became, rather gradually, a director of animation. This experience I would like to share with you.

I started by filming other people’s literary work. Remember Kuska? The movie was very much loved by young spectators and their parents. I was called Kuska’s mother, and Kuska was quoted by them all. Watch this page!

Gradually my animations became more sophisticated. Modern life made its way to them. Together with Serge Shatz I created a fairy tale character, Kolyan. It was called “Pocket thief”: a small pocket thief that could be placed in one’s pocket. Look here!

My animation experience made me feel strong enough to undertake a task of filming Shakespeare. My first film was «The Taming of the Shrew”. Look here!

There I met and became enamored with Olga Titova, a wonderful artist. We didn’t part since that and had made an animation film on the Biblical Joseph. Look here!

That was not all. Together with Jonathan Myerson we directed “The Canterbury Tales»
